HERE ARE SOME OF THE MOST COMMON QUESTIONS MY CLIENTS HAVE:
Which Hawaiian island are you located on? What if I’m getting married or located on a different island?
I am based The Big Island aka Hawaii Island! But don’t worry if you’re planning on going to Maui, Oahu, Kauai, Lanai, or one of the other islands— I am available for travel to any of the other islands!
What if my fiance/ partner/ parent/ etc. doesn’t like photos?
No worries! I’ve got you covered! I specialize in making people feel comfortable in front of the camera. I get real smiles and emotions from even the most camera shy people. My number one priority is documenting you both as a couple, exactly as you are. If you’re more introverted I might have you snuggle more, melt into each other, and just be yourselves. While I like to have my more extroverted couples play games, run into the ocean together, and forget I’m even there. If you love each other and have a great connection you have nothing to worry about. I will guide you the entire time, make you feel comfortable, never force you to do anything awkward or anything you’re not comfortable with. I will help by giving you suggestions (you’ll never feel like you don’t know what to do with your partner) and your photos will turn out amazing because I’m great at my job!
Do we receive RAW unedited image files?
No. Raw images are almost impossible to send and are a huge file size. You will however receive high-resolution digital image files which can be easily downloaded and printed or transferred to your Google Photos or social media accounts! You also have the option to purchase high-quality prints and albums directly through the website, super easily! If you’d rather have them printed at your own spot, no worries, you have full printing rights to do that as well and the file sizes are large enough for bigger wall prints too!
Do you meet with people before booking?
I am open to whatever you are most comfortable doing! If you’d like to stick to email or texting, no problem! If you’d like to chat on the phone or meet in person, that’s cool too. Normally people choose to Zoom/ video call, but if you’re local and you’d like to meet up that’s absolutely fine!
What is the process like should I decide to book you?
Once you decide to book it’s super simple! You can sign our contract and pay your non-refundable deposit to secure your date at your convenience with an easy-to-use online system. Once you’ve booked I’ll send out a questionnaire so I can learn all about you and your elopement/wedding/engagement vision. I can help you with anything you need along the way including outfit ideas and planning your wedding or elopement!
Have you shot at our venue before? Does that matter?
Whether I have or haven’t shot at your venue I always show up at least 30 minutes before my scheduled session time to scout out the location and find the best spots for photos. This is done on my own time and is not considered part of the shooting time you pay for. Light conditions even in the same location can change depending on the weather and time of day so even if a photographer has shot in a certain location before every time is different. I've even flown out a day early to get to the location and check it out for myself at my own cost for places I've never been. I love to be prepared and you should feel completely relaxed and taken care of when you ask me to take your photos.
How many pictures will I get?
All of your photos, all the time. You will get every single image from your session that meets my standards for quality. I want you to have them because I know how much they mean to you! They are images of you and your loved ones, and even if you don’t print all of them I hope you will treasure knowing you have them.
What if Hawaii's COVID policy means we have to reschedule?
No problem! You're able to reschedule due to COVID-19 policy up to a year from your originally scheduled date at NO additional cost.
We are a LGBTQ+ couple. Are you comfortable with that?
Of course! I’m a LGBTQ+ friendly photographer. I’m comfortable using any pronouns you prefer and completely comfortable documenting your amazing relationship. Love is love!
Will you be accepting of my very traditional religious/ very non-traditional non-religious ceremony?
Whether you’re sticking closer to tradition or doing your own thing that you love, I’m perfectly happy capturing your wedding regardless of the type of ceremony you choose to have as a couple. I’ve shot many different kinds of ceremonies and love when I get to see something new!
How Many Weddings/ Elopements do you take per year?
This can change from year to year, but in order to provide my clients with the quality and experience they deserve, I limit myself to 30 weddings per year, and I also will take no more than 8 per month. I prefer to focus on quality, not quantity because I'm here for you!
How do payment schedules work?
For Weddings: I require a 50% retainer, the remaining 50% is due 4 weeks in advance of the wedding date.
For Elopements: I require a 50% retainer, the remaining 50% is due 2 weeks in advance of the elopement date
For other sessions: I require a 50% retainer, the remaining 50% is due 3 days in advance of the session date.
For ALL sessions: Your remaining payments can be paid in a lump sum OR to make it more afforable and easy, many people choose to pay monthly toward their remaining balance. If you prefer to pay in full upon booking, I do offer a 5% discount off of your wedding or elopement package for that!
How long will it take to get our photos?
Because I take fewer sessions than most photographers, I'm also able to offer a faster turn-around time than most other photographers too! Typically, I deliver wedding or elopement galleries in about 5 weeks, and session galleries in about 3 weeks! I try to get them back to you as soon as possible, while still giving each and every image the special attention it deserves!
What do we wear for photos?
This is a common question I get on engagement/maternity/couples sessions! Don't worry! I've got you covered with a free style guide you'll recieve upon booking any session!
What if we need to cancel or reschedule our session?
I do currently have an exception for COVID-related travel restrictions, so not to worry if COVID travel restrictions mean we have to reschedule. Rescheduling in these circumstances comes at no cost to you. You may reschedule up to a year later than your original date at no fee.
However if you choose to reschedule for other reasons, the deposit is legally non-refundable, but you may apply it toward a new session date within 6 months of the originally scheduled date.
What if you can't make it to our wedding?
This has never happened before, and heaven forbid it. This would only happen if it were out of my control (act of god, illness, death, etc) but in this case I would do my best to help find a replacement photographer to take my place that I trust with a similar style, although I’m not legally held to do so. If I can’t make it to your wedding and cannot find a replacement your money will be refunded.
What if there is bad weather?
I always encourage my couples to embrace whatever the weather throws at us! These can be some of the most beautiful photos in fog, rain, or wind! Of course if the weather is so bad that we would be in danger, my gear would be ruined, or we would have a really crappy time, then a reschedule is possible, or a back-up location may also be possible.
Do you help in the planning process?
Absolutely! I'm happy to help guide you in the process with recommendations for venues, vendor recommendations, and more throughout your planning process. I know how difficult it can be to plan, especially if trying to plan from afar! If you're planning on eloping, I even offer a full-service planning option: where I completely take care of booking all your vendors and creating your dream vision for the day!
